In response to more AI-generated content appearing on streaming services, YouTube Music is adding a new AI tag directly to the player.
When a song is “created primarily using generative AI,” you’ll soon see a label on the Now Playing screen. This includes “using a generative model to create the composition and vocals.” The aim is to “make it as easy as possible for viewers and listeners to have the information and clarity they need regarding the music they are listening to”.
It appears just below the song name, next to the artist/channel. This “AI” badge with an information icon opens a “How it was done” bottom sheet.

YouTube Music explains how it was “Made with AI: This audio was edited or generated entirely using AI” with a link to learn more.
YouTube uses its own detection tools and “partners with music partners” to identify AI-generated tracks.
The deployment begins today. In the future, these AI tags for music will be integrated into the main YouTube app.
