Druski made his Saturday evening live debuts with the help of his next co-star Emma Stone.
He kicked off his very first monologue by acknowledging that his appearance marked the first time an online content creator had hosted the show.
“It’s a dream to host Saturday evening live. Apparently people are saying I’m the first internet content creator, social media influencer, who only makes you laugh on your phone, TikTok, YouTube and Instagram star to host this show,” he said. “Woo. Honestly, people say a lot of things about me.
“Some people say I look like a lesbian. I don’t know if that’s true,” Druski joked. “Some people say I take Ozempic. That could be a lie, it could be the truth.”
Druski, whose real name is Drew Desbordes, admitted that SNL would not “stop me from saying anything.” He said there were just a few rules to follow: no name calling and no “white face,” which he both joked he couldn’t promise. (We’ll talk more about this later.)
“But honestly, this is a huge moment for me growing up as a fat suburban kid. Why are you all laughing? My teachers never believed in me, so I just want to say… Yeah, I’m just lying. I just wanted to say that because rappers say that stuff,” he joked, before thanking his family, who were in the audience, for supporting his dreams.
“I’m so grateful. When I started my career, I let them, let me turn my dreams into a real movie convention. Every day I think about how I can repay you all,” he began, while a family member offered him: “Some money!”
The comedian reflected on how his career has evolved in recent years, noting, “I’m living proof that you can bet on yourself and make your dreams come true.” He added: “I just finished filming my first ever movie with Emma Stone, and she’s here right now!” The Oscar winner then took the stage and the two spoke about their work on The catch together.
“Emma, what’s going on? I’m actually playing her love interest in the new movie we just made,” he said. Stone responded, “Oh, I’m sorry. OK, yeah. I think maybe you misread that in those scenes because we weren’t lovers in the movie, but now it’s starting to make more sense why you kept looking at me like that through all those scenes.”
“That’s probably why we don’t kiss either,” Druski added, before also telling the actress that he loved her work in Bugonia. “Oh my God, thank you, really?” » said Pierre. The comedian replied: “No, I just wanted to be the first black person to say it. »
Druski and Stone set to appear in Universal Pictures romantic comedy The catchwhich will be directed by Dave McCary, Stone’s husband who was also segment director on SNL in the 2010s. The film is released in theaters on May 21, 2027.
Elsewhere in the episode, the series usurped the success of Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim’s Elizabeth Holmes documentary. You can see everything with a new look at its origins. As the sketch goes, before Fielder and Oppenheim signed on to direct the project, Druski was originally attached to the documentary. Jane Wickline appeared in the sketch as Elizabeth Holmes while Ben Marshall played Holmes’ husband Billy Evans.
SNL made fun of the close-ups presented in You can see everythingwith Druski and Wickline recreating the infamous moment from the documentary where Fielder and Holmes wonder if the latter was trying to trick the filmmaker. They also spoofed Fielder’s decision to cast an actress as Holmes later in the documentary, with Druski himself taking on the role of the disgraced Theranos CEO, prosthetics and all.
Druski said, “I just need to find someone who can really embody her character,” before showing a photo of Druski dressed as Elizabeth Holmes. “I’m still real,” he said, as Wickline kept saying, “I’m still real.” They continued to repeat the phrase to each other, as Druski offered it: “I could do this all day, bitch. You don’t scare me.”
Texas Sen.-elect James Talarico also joined the often cold political overture to call for policy change. SNLIt’s cold. The sketch began by recounting the success enjoyed by Democrats in the 2026 midterm elections, with Talarico arriving at the end of the term.
“People want something new; they want something different,” Talarico said. “I’m talking about SNL the cold opens up,” he said, turning to James Austin Johnson’s Trump to ask how long he would do the job. “Infinite,” he replied.
In a more political impersonation, Jeremy Culhane portrayed Elon Musk during the Weekend Update segment to detail the midterm results.
As he said in his monologue, Druski is the first creator to host SNL. He was joined by The Strokes as the evening’s musical guest.
He got his start in the industry through his online presence, where he made a name for himself by making sketches online. Druski has since expanded his career to television (Cultivated) and cinema (Party at home), and hosted the BET Awards in June. On Monday, it was announced that Druski had signed a multi-year deal with Netflix, which will first see him star in the “semi-scripted” comedy series. Collect and rent.
Jalen Brunson, Dakota Johnson, Shane Gillis and Inde Navarrette have already hosted season 52. Next, John Mulaney will host the November 14 episode alongside Phoebe Bridgers.
