Jenny McCarthy says Tom Cruise tried to lure her and ex Jim Carrey to Scientology

Jenny McCarthy claims Tom Cruise tried to “lure” her and her ex-boyfriend, Jim Carrey, to Scientology during his 2006 marriage to Katie Holmes.

While chatting with former Scientologist Anne Gollert Hill on Thursday’s episode of her eponymous podcast, McCarthy revealed that Cruise “tried to get her into Scientology” while she was dating Carrey.

The “Masked Singer” judge, 53, went on to explain that Cruise, now 64, tried to recruit her and Carrey into Scientology during the rehearsal dinner, where the former couple was seated directly across from the bride and groom.

At the time, Cruise and Holmes had recently welcomed their daughter, Suri, now 20.

McCarthy recalled that during dinner, a nanny brought the baby to Holmes, prompting the self-proclaimed “baby person” to ask if she could hold him.

She said the entire group turned to look at her, adding, “It sounded like ‘Rosemary’s Baby’…I got the Scientology look.”

After Holmes “slowly” passed Suri to him, McCarthy monotonously said, “Hey, baby,” before returning the baby to his mother as “everyone resumed their conversations.”

“I just thought, ‘OK, I’m in the belly of the beast right now,'” she added.

McCarthy also remembers Cruise introducing him to his best man, David Miscavige, the head of the Church of Scientology.

“I said, ‘Ha ha, you got chosen. Congratulations,’ which made it humiliating,” she said, adding that Miscavige “didn’t like it” as Cruise laughed to “cover up the uncomfortable moment.”

McCarthy also said that Cruise once invited her and Carrey to his home in Aspen, but Carrey was reluctant to go because he feared they were “trying to lure (them) out.”

Elsewhere in the podcast, McCarthy said Holmes “looked like a deer in the headlights” during her marriage to Cruise, adding that she often pulled the “Dawson’s Creek” actress aside at events to check if she was OK.

“It was good in the marriage. During the wedding part, she still looked like Katie, but in the marriage there seemed to be a change in her,” McCarthy explained.

She later added: “The juxtaposition between Katie at that time and Tom’s world was very opposite.”

McCarthy and Carrey began dating in 2005, but called it quits in 2010, although they remained close over the years.

The former “View” co-host married Donnie Wahlberg in 2014, while Carrey recently married his longtime girlfriend, Min Ah, earlier this month.

Cruise and Holmes, for their part, divorced in 2012, and Holmes was recently linked to artist Jason Bard Yarmosky.
