Joe Manganiello spoke about her divorce with Sofia Vergara. The American actor and Modern Family star finalized their split in 2024. In his new memoir, Bloodlines, he revealed that his last exchange with his ex-wife was “hurtful.”
The memoir chronicled Manganiello’s fractured relationship with Vergara (via Entertainment Weekly). It also revealed how he was battling a mysterious autoimmune disease at the same time.
The elder from Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice revealed his final interaction with Vergara in his memoir. He wrote: “She also let me know that in her opinion no one was going to love me when they found out the full extent of what I had. That was the last time I spoke to her.”

Manganiello revealed that the perception of his marriage was based on a one-sided narrative. Vergara had shared stories about their differences of opinion, which portrayed him as the party at fault. However, he revealed what led to the split, explaining that their differing opinions on children had little to do with the divorce.
Manganiello’s memoir says the remarks made by the Colombian-American actress were “not true, much less the reason I filed for divorce, years after we had decided to stop our attempts to have children because of my illness.”
Vergara’s comments came at a time when the Magic Mike actor had yet to reveal that he was battling his illness. He clarified that he never intended to harm Vergara’s relationship or health. Manganiello wrote: “I never wanted to be responsible for putting my own desires, selfish or not, ahead of anyone else’s feelings, especially when it came to deeply important topics like potentially harmful fertility drugs and raising children. »
