“Jon & Kate Plus 8” is getting the behind-the-scenes treatment by Netflix.
Patriarch Jon Gosselin and two of his children, Collin and Hannah, are filming a Netflix documentary about their time on the series, the streamer announced.
According to the official newspaper, “For nearly a decade, a family’s chaos and love played out on television as comfort viewing. Years later, conflicting narratives emerged within the family itself – competing memories of the same childhood, the same house, the same projector. The new documentary takes a closer look, piecing together the story from every angle: the children who grew up in front of the camera, the adults who built a brand around them, and the public who couldn’t look away. It’s an intimate look at how real life became a phenomenon the world thought I knew.
The project’s producers are Mike Gasparro and Julia Willoughby-Nason for The Cinemart (“American Murder: Gabby Petito,” “Death of the Pastor’s Wife”).
“Jon & Kate Plus 8” ran for eleven seasons, from 2007 to 2017, starting with Discovery Health before moving to TLC. The show documented the Gosselin family, which included sextuplets and twins. Jon and Kate separated during the series, which was later retitled “Kate Plus 8.”
Collin recently released a memoir, “In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood,” which alleged that his mother abused him growing up and while filming the series.
