Well, Miami Heat fans, you actually have a repaired Dwyane Wade statue before “Grand Theft Auto VI.”
Barely, and note that before “GTA VI” starts invading your arena, but still…
You may remember that two years ago, the Heat unveiled a statue honoring franchise legend Dwyane Wade. It quickly went viral, and not because it belongs to the Louvre.

At what point in human history did we stop making good statues? How could a guy with a chisel in the Renaissance make a perfect sculpture of a Greek god, but now it’s hard to draw an athlete’s face – that we can all imagine or that you can physically look at a picture of?
We saw this happen to Cristiano Ronaldo; Allen Iverson has one so small you could use it as a paperweight, and of course, there’s Wade’s.

But now Wade’s statue has been given a facelift in the form of what the team calls “improvements.”

By “improvements” they mean he looks more like Wade than before, which wasn’t the case at all.
What an improvement, even if, truth be told, a child with a box of Crayolas (64 units, with the pencil sharpener; the good one) could have made some improvements to the original one.
It’s nice that they fixed that, but it’s not like everyone’s minds are going to be wiped “Men in Black” style so they forget the first abomination.
And, honestly, I think people are going to miss the original statue that would be of Dwyane Wade.

The new statue looks enough like Wade that it’s not funny, but not enough like him that it’s a masterpiece. You want to be in one of these spaces.

Now, there’s nothing remarkable, good or bad, about this, and I think in a few years people will be clamoring for this statue that looks like D-Wade stumbled into the “Backrooms.”
