Netflix has renewed Nobody wants that for a fourth season, The Hollywood Reporter learned.
The renewal comes just two weeks after the release of the third season of the hit romantic comedy, which delivered the biggest opening week for a returning comedy series on the streamer this year. Created by Erin Foster and starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, the series racked up 13.4 million views in its first two weeks.
“We are very happy and excited to be making another season of our favorite show on television, which coincidentally is the one we are airing,” co-showrunners and executive producers Foster, Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan said in a statement.
The third season saw major developments for central couple Joanne (Bell) and Rabbi Noah (Brody), who moved in together while continuing to navigate their interfaith relationship. The season also further explored the complicated dynamic between Morgan (Justine Lupe), Sasha (Timothy Simons), and Esther (Jackie Tohn), with the latter two being thrust back into the dating world after their split at the end of season two. The third season cast also included Stephanie Faracy, Michael Hitchcock, Paul Ben-Victor, Tovah Feldshuh, Andrew Rannells, Sarah Silverman, Shiloh Bearman and Sherry Cola.
This revival comes amid recent headlines surrounding Brody’s comments on the Gaza war. In a recent interview with GQthe actor said: “Describe me as thinking this is genocide. Describe me as wanting a free Palestine.” He added: “It’s horrible that it took so much death and misery, but I feel like we’re reaching a breaking point that should have been reached some time ago.”
Following Brody’s comments, Rabbi Steve Leder, former senior rabbi of the Wilshire Boulevard Temple in Los Angeles – where Foster converted to Judaism – and technical advisor on the show’s first season, criticized the actor.
“By your own admission, you are a relatively ignorant Jew, and your ignorance really showed itself the other day. Here’s some technical advice: If you don’t know anything about something, you shouldn’t say anything about it,” Leder said.
Foster also responded to Brody’s comments while promoting the third season. On the Not skinny but not fat podcast, she said: “Our work environment, our set is very similar to dinner tables around the world where people debate and argue and disagree. As much as I like Adam, I don’t agree with him either, and that’s okay.”
Brody’s co-star Feldshuh, who plays his on-screen mother Bina, also weighed in with his thoughts. The veteran Jewish actress said The New York Post“Accusing the Jewish people of genocide is savage. It’s straight out of Hitler’s playbook. You take the victim and you make the victim the perpetrator.”
Feldshuh later denied that his comments caused tension with Brody or the rest of the cast. “Tensions are NOT increasing. Deep differences of opinion exist. Please don’t confuse the two — and none of that will be brought on set,” she wrote on Threads last week.
The official casting of Nobody wants that season four has not yet been announced.
The fourth season will once again be produced in Los Angeles, alongside several other recent Netflix productions, including Monster season four, The Lincoln Lawyer season five, Running point season two, Beef season two, Nemesis And The Night Agent season four. Netflix Movies The tear, Animals And The other misadventures of Cliff Booth are also part of the productions.
Other executive producers include Bell, Sara Foster, Nora Silver, Steven Levitan, Danielle Stokdyk and Jeff Morton, as well as Oly Obst, executive producer for 3 Arts Entertainment. The series is produced by 20th Television.
