A dangerous hitter, Wilson, who has already been suspended six times by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety, was later ejected from the game after a quick review by officials.
He received five minutes for collision and game misconduct.
“It’s an unfortunate move,” Panthers forward Cole Reinhardt said.
After scoring a career-high four points (2G, 2A) in a 5-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday, Vilmanis, who made his NHL debut and played in 19 games in 2025-26, has already reached a new career-high with seven points (3G, 4A) this season.
As for the hit, the Panthers will leave any reaction to the NHL.
“I leave that to the Department of Player Safety,” Maurice said. “That’s their job.”
Stay tuned in the coming days for more updates on Vilmanis.
