Heartbroken “TODAY” co-host Savannah Guthrie on Sunday renewed her call for information about the kidnapping of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, from her Tucson, Ariz., home nine months ago.
Guthrie posted an image on Instagram of a drawing by her young daughter that reflected her feelings about the loss of her elderly mother. The drawing shows a blue umbrella surrounded by raindrops, with a caption that reads: “I know it might not look like it, but I really need my mom.”
Her child’s artwork “says a lot about how I feel,” Guthrie wrote.
“For Annie and Tommy, for Cam and Kristine, for Mike and me and for all of Mom’s beloved grandchildren: we ache for her, we beg for answers, we cannot move forward,” Guthrie said in the post, naming members of his immediate family. “We need someone to help us, tell us what you know.”
Nancy Guthrie was reported missing from her Tucson home on February 1.
Authorities said the crime involved a ransom demand. The investigation by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, with assistance from the FBI, has not produced any significant progress in the case.
A hair found in Nancy Guthrie’s home failed to identify a suspect after tests, investigators said in July.
A task force created to solve the crime is still pursuing leads in an effort to find Nancy Guthrie and any suspects involved. The team “traveled to Florida to meet with lab scientists to see what more could be done to move the case forward,” the sheriff’s office said recently on X.
Guthrie said his family was forever changed by the tragedy. She called her mother “the light in this world” and begged for answers so her family could “celebrate her and give her the dignity she deserves.”
The morning show host stressed that the reward for information is still available.
“We beg you,” Guthrie wrote. “Please help us.”
