PS5 firmware update 14.22 released, Sony confirms ‘some security fixes’ for system software

Sony has released another PS5 firmware update as it struggles to keep tabs on the homebrew community’s continued efforts to jailbreak the console ahead of GTA 6’s release.

PS5 firmware update 26.07-14.22.00, which weighs 1,267 GB, was released today, November 2, and we have confirmation via the patch notes that it is security related:

  • We have made some security fixes to the system software.

Today’s update comes just 11 days after the release of version 14.20, which occurred on October 21 and whose patch notes did not mention security, but were widely seen as a response to recent events.
