Zendaya may have just won Halloween, and she has Halle Berry’s seal of approval to prove it.
The actress teamed up with her longtime stylist Law Roach to create one of Halle Berry’s most memorable red carpet looks of all time, the outfit she wore to the “X-Men” premiere in July 2000.
According to For The Win, Berry caught wind of the tribute and couldn’t help but show his appreciation. In response to a side-by-side photo of her and Zendaya on social media, the Oscar winner kept her reaction short and sweet.
“She won,” Berry wrote, adding a sparkle emoji.
Zendaya recreated Berry’s bold look, pairing a string bikini top with flared pants, right down to the details. More than 25 years later, the outfit is still a sensation, and Zendaya’s tribute introduced this iconic fashion moment to a new generation.
The original look dates back to a pivotal moment in Berry’s career. She made her debut as Storm in the first “X-Men” film, bringing one of Marvel’s most beloved superheroes to the big screen. Two years later, she would make history by becoming the first black woman to win the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in “Monster’s Ball.”

For Zendaya, the costume was another opportunity to celebrate a fashion moment that helped define an era. With Roach behind the style, the Emmy-winning actress has become known for her memorable red carpet looks that often pay homage to Hollywood history.
But this particular tribute had additional meaning. Berry helped pave the way for black actresses to become leading women in hit franchises, and Zendaya has followed in her footsteps, building a career that spans film, television and fashion.

And while many celebrities went all out for Halloween this year, Zendaya proved that sometimes all it takes is a little fashion history and the right inspiration to make a lasting impression.
As for Berry, his two-word endorsement says it all.
