The release of GTA 6 led to a 17% increase in leave requests at work

The release of GTA 6 led to a 17% increase in leave requests, according to a new report.

As reported by Money.com, new data from HR software company BambooHR has revealed that there has been a notable increase in leave requests for November 19. BambooHR revealed that there was an increase between 9% and 17% on November 19, compared to normal requests for the third Thursday in November. While we don’t know if everyone is taking this day off to play GTA 6, it stands to reason that that’s what the bulk of these requests are for.

Economists estimate that the release of GTA 6 would cause a billion-dollar loss in productivity in the United States. While we’ll just have to wait and see what kind of impact the game will have on the world, it’s clear that this is a massive event. There is a high level of anticipation for GTA 6, and it is expected to have one of the biggest entertainment launches of all time, if not THE the biggest.

Rockstar also spent a lot of money getting the word out through extravagant marketing; after all, he spent $975,000 to install a huge neon pink sign atop the Miami Heat arena. The developer has also covered the city with in-universe advertisements for the game’s brands, as well as more traditional banners featuring the game’s key artwork. Fans can even eat at a real-life version of Burger Shot, a fast food chain from the GTA universe, if they live in Miami.

There will also be a never-before-seen NBA game between the Miami Heat and the Milwaukee Bucks on November 18, which will transform the Heat into Vice City Heat. They will play in GTA 6-themed jerseys on a never-before-seen Vice City pitch. This should be quite a spectacle and an effective final marketing point for the game.

GTA 6 will be released on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC port is also planned for early 2027.
