President Donald Trump has promised a major investment for Kentucky — but only if Republicans win the midterm elections.
“If the Republicans win, the War Department will invest $100 million in the pharmaceutical company Antheia to revitalize a massive drug manufacturing plant in Winchester, Kentucky,” Trump said at a midterm campaign rally in Highland Heights, Kentucky, on October 17.
If Democrats win, Trump continued, they “couldn’t do it, they wouldn’t even know what you’re talking about, they have no idea.”
Representatives for U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate who currently represents the congressional district where Winchester is located, and the Department of Defense did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Trump also discussed several other major investments in Kentucky industry, including a $1 billion investment from GE Appliances and IUE-CWA that will make Louisville’s Appliance Park the largest appliance manufacturing site in the United States.
Trump was in northern Kentucky as part of a rally tour aimed at drumming up support for Republican candidates ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
Barr and Ed Gallrein, the Republican candidate for Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District, joined Trump on stage during his speech, during which Trump reiterated his promise to also give all adult citizens a $5,000 dividend if voters elect a Republican Senate and House on November 3.
Earlier, at the Republican National Committee’s midterm convention, Trump said the dividend was possible because of the “tremendous strength and success” of the U.S. economy, according to USA TODAY. However, he did not specify how this would be paid for or how much it would cost.
